Cops move in on Stone Love Anniversary - Vybz Kartel named Dj of the Year

Having dominion over the dancehall and party scene for years, the 'immortal' Stone Love celebrated 38 years on Saturday last.

The highly anticipated celebration was as expected, a dusk to dawn marathon which came to an abrupt ending at approximately 5:00 am on Sunday as the police entered the venue and informed the Stone Love selectors that the end had come.

This premature ending came about just as dancehall act Sizzla was halfway through his song Trod Mount Zion. The artiste had only gotten a chance to perform Good Ways and Holding Firm for the hundreds at the Royal View Entertainment Centre in Portmore.
Several artistes including a hoarse Khago, Rikki Tikki, Toya, Ikaya and LUST all gave brief performances.

The dapper looking Stone Love crew worked up a musical inferno playing strings of popular tracks from the most happening artistes including Movado, Vybz Kartel, Bounty Killer and Beenie Man.

Sample man was nothing short of his usual antics and 'sample talk' while the sexy Magnum Girls handed out trophies and danced seductively much to the delight of the male audience.
The VIP lounge belonged to members of the dancehall fraternity including Bounty Killa and other members of his Alliance, Baby Cham, Toya, Ding Dong, Harry Toddler, Konshens and Delus.
The party rocked but there was not enough time for the celebration to reach its full peak because of its untimely ending.

Earlier the Stone Love team had awarded MOB for Best Local Male Dancer while the Swag Team claimed the trophy for number one dance move — The Swag. Stone Love's boss Wee Pow gave the dancing crown to Ding Dong saying "I don't want you to normalise this thing. A king is a king and a queen is a queen. After Bogle this is the man who take it up and take it to the next level. As of today, he is officially named the king of dancing." Khago got New Male Vocalist of the Year, while the female's version went to Ikaya. Popular deejay Vybz Kartel was named Deejay of the Year.
