Damian Marley makes digital moves

American dance producer Skrillex's Make it Bun Dem which features Damian 'Jr Gong' Marley, is the top selling reggae song on Billboard's Digital Reggae Singles chart. The track was released last summer and has become a sleeper hit in Jamaica.

Make it Bun Dem is one of four songs with Marley on the Billboard Digital Reggae Singles table. The others are Road to Zion and Patience (both with American rapper Nas), and Welcome to Jamrock. The Billboard Digital Reggae Singles chart contains best-selling songs in the United States based on figures by sales tracker Nielsen Soundscan.
To date the track has sold 317, 273 downloads. In the past week it recorded an additional 6,885 downloads. It has peaked at number 58 on the UK Singles chart; number 27 in Australia; number 34 in Austria; number 15 in Belgium; number 48 in Sweden; and number 16 in New Zealand.
Make it Bun Dem was released as an instrumental in 2011. The song was re-recorded with vocals from Marley's Billboard hit song Welcome to Jamrock. The new version debuted in January 2012. A music video, directed by Tony Truand, was released in September on Skrillex's official YouTube channel. Born Sonny John Moore, 25-year-old Skrillex is from California. He is former lead singer of the band From First to Last with whom he recorded two albums before leaving for a solo career in 2007.
