Sizzla Kalonji to greet fans with new album - The Messiah

Describing his upcoming album, The Messiah, as a "spiritually-conscious album", 36-year-old Dancehall/Reggae veteran Sizzla Kalonji embarks on another chapter in his 22-year-long career.

"I've always wanted to label my albums with great titles like Black Woman and Child, Thank You Mama, and now The Messiah is coming… This is just a solo album with Sizzla – pure Sizzla," dishes Sizzla to The Gleaner earlier in the year.

Set for a late May release, the album was written and executively produced by Sizzla and will be released under his own Kalonji Music imprint with distribution through VP Records.

With an estimated 65 album to his credit, the singjay, born Miguel Collins, has hopped between Reggae genres and dabbled in hardcore Dancehall effortlessly throughout the years, wrapping his signature energetic deliveries with each release. His ability to constantly deliver powerful, soul-touching performances and produced-songs, he explained, comes from a meta-physical bond he has with his fans and his desire for reaching out to the wider community.

"I think it's a spiritual connection and the physical beauty around the fans, being able to be reached at times when you have community services and charitable works, playing and being a part of activities in and around your community and being consistent in recording and just showing the love, highlighting the people of the world, showing them right from wrong; they really like that and I think that's what has kept Sizzla going."

With a new generation of 'Reggae Revivalists' on the move, Sizzla's The Messiah, should sit comfortably among his ever growing fanbase and is sure to win over new listeners.
