Bounty gets CROSS, ANGRY at Tracks and Records
Tuesday's set with Bounty Killer at Usain Bolt's Tracks and Records was one filled with a tribute to women, gospel, expletives, apologies, and a string of dancehall hits. The dancehall artiste was the featured act at the weekly Behind the Screens concert series at the Constant Spring Road venue in St Andrew.
By 10:00 pm, the parking lot was filled to capacity as hundreds made their way towards the lounge to see the artiste's performance. It was just after 11:00 pm when Shaggy and Trinidad and Tobago's soca star Machel Montano introduced Bounty Killer to centrestage. The crowd roared with excitement. During the first 15 minutes, he had the audience moving to his hits -- By the Rivers of Babylon, Sufferer, Living Dangerously, Cellular Phone, Book, and Wutliss Bwoy. Between tracks, the entertainer complained that he was unable to hear himself clearly and requested the engineers to adjust the monitors.
"Hey engineer, uno fix up dem monitor here or take dem off the stage as a matter of fact mi no wa no 'manita' up ya is a 'galita' mi wa. Uno no make mi get cross and cuss bare bad word in yah," the 'Warlord' said.Nevertheless, Bounty Killer continued with his performance. However, minutes later he abandoned his microphone and exited the stage complaining that he was still unable to hear himself. While the Ruff Kut band continued playing in the background, tech-nicians rushed to the stage to rectify the problem while the audience chanted Bounty's name.
Shortly after, he returned and no one was spared his wrath.Among those he lashed out at were homosexuals, child molesters and politicians. Among his musical missiles were songs like Can't Believe Mi Eyes, Eagle and Hawk, Bulletproof Skin, and Warlord. As fate would have it, there was another technical glitch which resulted in his microphone going dead. Bounty got even angrier and his lyrics were replaced with expletives.
"Mi love Usain Bolt but a di last time mi a perform ya so. Mi come in here come see people perform problem free. Now a my time and look wat a happen. Uno don't know say uno mustn't aggravate a cross and angry man," he said between expletives. The audience cheered him while others loudly expressed their disappointment regarding the technical interruptions. Minutes later, a calmer Bounty Killer apologised to the organisers and the audience for his outburst and continued with his set this time diverting his attention to the females. He had their undivided attention with songs like Good to Go, Bare Gal A mad Ova Me, Say You Leaving, and It's OK.
Dancehall artiste I-Octane also shared stage with Bounty Killer on their collab Bad Mind Dem a Pree. The entertainer exited the stage at 1:00 a.m. signalling an end to what could be considered as a entertaining yet controversial Behind the Screens session.
