Mr. Vegas and Sean Paul put their differences aside
After years of not working together, Sean Paul and Mr Vegas seem to have put past differences aside and are now taking what Mr Vegas describes as "a step in the right direction."
Years ago, when Sean Paul and Mr Vegas were signed to record labels VP and Greensleeves, respectively, the two were reportedly entangled in a dispute between VP and Greensleeves Records over the remix of the single Hot Gal Today which was released with only Sean Paul's picture and name on the cover.
The two recently teamed, however, on Tuff Like Steel on the Blaze Fia rhythm which Sean Paul produced for his new Dutty Muck record label.
"It was just a step in the right direction," said Mr Vegas. He continued, "Over the years we've had some differences and I just wanted to work things out with Sean Paul without a third party. I reached out to him and he sent me some beats that he was working on."
Mr Vegas described the song as a sort of a tribute to veteran producers Steely and Clevie and said that he hopes that the two will knock their musical hats again in the future. When asked if there is future work in store between the two, Vegas responded, "I hope so. We had some success with Tiger Bone and Hot Gal Today and fans have always been asking when we gonna do a song. I'm happy to be a part of what he's doing because his talent goes far beyond reggae/dancehall music."
Mr Vegas says he is now working to take his career to the next level as he wants to be up there among "who a run di place or who seh dem a run di place" as he is "tired of playing the co-star role." He has recent songs such as Certain Law on Q45's Barbwire rhythm and Dutty People on DJ Frass' Hattaclaps rhythm.
Sweet Jamaica has also been doing well for him as it has reached the number one spot in several overseas countries.
