Spragga's lawyers meet with police
After being named as a person of interest by the police in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on April 22 this year, deejay Spragga Benz is yet to return to the island to be questioned by the police.
A release issued by his lawyers yesterday noted that the deejay, whose real name is Carlton Grant, has been out of the island since April 14 fulfilling contractual commitments.
According to the release, after the deejay's lawyers met with the head of the Major Investigation Taskforce and the Elletson Road Police Station, it was formally established that he is not an official suspect in any criminal matter.
Further, the release stated that, the attorneys were able to reach an agreement with the police. Benz is to meet with the police at the earliest mutually convenient time to address any questions or concerns which they may have.
Meanwhile, THE STAR understands that the deejay is deeply concerned that the media publications have recklessly put him and his family at risk, and have also substantially damaged his commercial interest.
Attorneys-at-law Marlon Gilbert-Roberts and Randolph Cheeks Jr are representing Spragga.
The artiste, known for songs such as Jack It Up, She Nuh Ready Yet, Oh Yeah, Tiny Tot and his role as Wayne in the popular 'yardie' film Shottas, released his latest 17-track Shotta Culture album last year with the hope of helping to rebuild dancehall music.
The album featured artistes like Wayne Wonder, Marcia Griffiths, Nas, Stephen Marley, Sizzla, Jah Cure and Queen Ifrica
The star had also announced that he was making a 90-minute documentary about his life, musical career, relationships, children and his deceased son, Carlton Grant Jr.
