Nikki Z returns to local radio

As promised late last year, Nikki Z has finally returned to local radio with her show that will be aired on SunCity FM.

After spending more than two years with ZIP FM and gaining vast popularity, Nikki Z and the radio station severed ties in early 2009. This came after she was suspended for playing Munga Honourable's Ride It in the previous year.

Now, the disc jock, whose real name is Nicole Duhaney, is ready to be on local radio again. She said her show, 'World Caribbean Countdown', was scheduled to begin airing on SunCity FM today between 7 and 10 a.m. The relatively new station, which airs on the 104.9 band, can be heard in Kingston, St Andrew and St Catherine.
Expressing her enthusiasm, Nikki said she is excited that the show will be aired locally.

"It feels like a breath of fresh air. Hopefully by summer I can be out there a lot more often," she said.
World Caribbean Countdown is a Caribbean radio programme that counts down the hit songs in the region. Broadcasts of the show are aired in Africa, Virgin Islands, Turks & Caicos, St Vincent & the Grenadines and the United States, with Jamaica being the latest addition. Nikki Z said her listeners can expect "fun, excitement and the 411."

"They can check in and expect the unexpected. This is more music and less talk," she added, noting that this weekend's guest is I-Octane.

Nikki Z will also be putting on an event called 'My Life' that will have I-Octane as the featured artiste. It will be held at the Panache Ballroom, Springfield, Massachusetts, on March 11.

As for returning to Jamaica to do live broadcasts of the show, she had very little to say.
"We will see. We are taking baby steps. It's going to be a fun journey, though," she told THE STAR.
